Ghost Town August 15 2011, 0 Comments

At least it feels that way with the fair finally packing up and moving on.  It is finally safe to come out of the house.  After lunch we went for a quick spin to pick up my entries from the photo exhibit. The food wagons have almost completely moved out.  Quite a different scene than saturday.  We stopped at the last hall to pick up my pictures and honorable mention ribbon.  I am already plotting and planning for next year's entries.  I decided to take a quick peak at the midway: Not nearly as exciting with trash everywhere and things three-fourths picked up.  Then we took the long way home to check the surf. The low clouds and fog have been relentless this summer, after a while it starts to get really old.  I know, it is better than heat waves or ice storms, but after weeks of flat gray light, bright enough to need sun glasses, but never sunny, you start to appreciate the clear blue skies a bit more.

Fair Days August 05 2011, 0 Comments

One of the many fringe benefits of where we live is being within a block of the County fairgrounds.  It is really not that bad most of the time, but for 10 days every summer the whole county and then some seems to descend upon out neighborhood.  It is best to get out early and then home before the "Lot Full" road rage spreads for a 3 mile radius.  Today we made it out for some quick errands we before the crowds, It looks like the fog is going to pull back out over the ocean too, making for a great Friday. Enjoy your weekend, and get outside.  We will be at the Fair

Ponies Make Everything Better July 21 2011, 0 Comments

Today was a slow starting day for the Co-pilot, sleep has been rough lately with the teeth in the rear starting to make their appearance.  After yesterday's long ride I thought we could go out on the river trail for a bit and see how long things hold up.  Once again the fog was pretty thick. Things were going well at mile 6, but the fog was making everything damp.  I decided to pass on the playground and detour out along Canada Larga Rd.  I was thinking that some ponies and cows might make the morning a little more interesting. It helped wake her up a bit, but like I sad we were slow starting.... after a couple hundred feet of altitude gain on the back roads the motor was feeling the slow start too, and decided it was time to point things back down hill. The cows and bunnies were just OK, but scarring up a flock of birds was almost like a cup of coffee, And then we were back to the ponies!!!! Pure stoke!  just enough to keep her from falling asleep on the way home.  All in all we squeezed in about 14 miles in an hour an 15 minutes, not too bad for a loaded down xtracycle.

Biggest Ride Ever July 20 2011, 0 Comments

For my co-pilot that is.  No opie to babysit today, I needed to go to the market, so it was time to expand the range a bit.  First stop was the swap meet.  The fog was back in full force this morning.  From there along the coast to the other side of town.  Plenty of Co-pilot snacks make for a better trip. Half way to the farmer's market we took a break to watch a giant date palm getting pulled like a weed Then off to get some fruit, veggies and meat. Even with plenty of cheesy crackers and fruit samples, energy levels were fading fast as we headed for home Overall he trip went great.  We pushed both time and distance further than we had before.  The dividends were a bike full of food, some tired legs and a serious nap for Co-pilot while I am catching up on things. Have fun, and Play outside!!!

Cross Town Play Groung Ride July 19 2011, 0 Comments

The fog blew out last night and it was a perfect day to ride across town and explore a bit. The temperatures are running in the mid 60s and there was barely a puff of breeze, so we headed off to a new to us play ground. Post playground view back towards home.  Tomorrow we head out even further to the farmer's market.  As she is getting bigger the range we can go while still having fun is getting bigger.

Around Town July 14 2011, 0 Comments

This has been a busy week, and it is barely half past.  Most of the bike time has been errands.  No trip around town is complete though without passing by the beach.   Someday we will get back to surfing, for now it seems to elude us.  Back to the shop to complete some jobs.

New Beach MUP July 08 2011, 0 Comments

Early morning ride with a little girl who would no longer sleep, The city is trying to repair and re-invent our beachfront, the new multi use path is a nice bonus, still a bit off at the ends, but better than it was.

The fog moved out to sea after lunch, so we hit the town before nap time.  Two playgrounds and a lap around the neighborhood in less than 45 minutes....   Father's day went fantastically by the way, but keeping it simple, dad forgot to put the memory card in the camera.  Tons of fun, tacos and a trip to the beach, but no pics, just memories.

Drop Off and Pick Up June 17 2011, 0 Comments

Making a bike ride out of  trip to the post office is a great way to inject a little adventure into the Friday lunch break.  It just so happened, there was a hole in the fog and a little blue sky peaking through.  Dropping off an outbound saddle. After the drop off, and picking up the Pro Compe I was waiting for this week, it was time to hit the park for our first playground trip. Then off through town to check the surf, Around the point and back towards home the clouds and fog were closing in, It is hard to imagine a better way to spend 45 minutes in the middle of the day.  Happy Friday, Happy Father's day and Go Play Outside this weekend!
