The week' s first break came this afternoon, and we took the scenic route home.
It was gorgeous out, howling wind and cold, and she did not care. It was perfect.
Winter weather is coming soon. The roller coaster weather continues, it was hot and sunny all weekend, and the rain and snow are on their way back
Dark and gloomy for now, but at least it is dry.
It has been a long 10 days or so in the household. One of the widely known fringe benefits of childcare, the germs, hit hard. We have been adapting to the low level persisting cold bug over the last couple of months, but this one wiped us all out. Fevers all around, like dominoes we all had are turn, I even got my chance twice. We are all on the upswing now and finally am catching up on last week, getting this week going and working in a few surprise developments. I wrapped up the day with a trip to the post office,
Then it was off to get the munchikin, who brought the party home and was first to feel better.
We headed off to meet mommy at the beach before heading home.
Really a fantastic way to cap off the day. We are all looking forward to a more productive week.
Regular posting and bike news to follow.
There is just enough day light in the afternoons again to take the scenic route home without needing lights.
While the beach is always fun, she is scoping out the stables at the fair grounds hoping to see a pony. Fun stuff, and a great cap to the day.
Kite Day January 02 2012, 0 Comments
First ride of the year yesterday morning, off to breakfast and then to the park to fly the kite!
A perfect start to the year.
Thank You Mary Poppins, my 19 month old can fly a kite, at least until she lets go of the string to clap with joy.
Another productive week, more time to get things going with childcare going four days a week, Friday is daddy day. Fun stuff all day culminating in a ride to the hardware store to work on counting and then off to the beach. She has fun playing with the other kids, but part of me misses that first year already.
The days are getting shorter still, the time seems to be getting away faster and the motivation to ride has been waning a bit with the cold windy weather. I am working on a plan to get re-motivated, to ride and make pictures like last winter. For now just enjoying the day with my little girl as it is coming to a close.
Happy Friday, and be sure to play outside this weekend!
This morning was the perfect day to go hunt for a tree. The morning low was in the 30's and it actually felt like winter. By the time we had breakfast and loaded up the bikes it was a little warmer out, but still pretty cold by California beach standards. There seems to be an abundance of tree yards this year, and I was able to work out a fun route for a family ride, with little or no traffic.
The ride to the lot was balmy, but the hills helped keep things warm, and the views were incredible now that the last week's wind and dust had settled down.
With the mission half accomplished, Aly decided that the new family ride to get a tree tradition, should include hot chocolate, and who could argue with that.
From there we headed home to unload the tree.
The day was staying nice, the wind never really came up the way it does in the afternoon here. I set up the tree, switched bikes and headed back across town to run some errands and grab a load of food at the Farmer's Market.
I can only imagine how nice it must have been up in the mountains today, this weather is about as good as it gets.
The legs are feeling pretty spent at this point, rest and picture break is over and time to hit the kitchen. Thanks for taking a look and I hope it was this much fun getting your tree this year.
On a side note I finally am coming around to the Facebook thing, still feels a bit funny for some reason, but it is pretty easy to find my, Ocean Air Cycles page and I hope that it makes it a bit easier to follow me here if that is the way you like to keep up on and share things with your friends.
Mid Day Escape November 23 2011, 0 Comments
Yesterday was a perfect day to get out and ride. Crisp clear blue skis with thin clouds. The shipping and receiving team headed out to run some errands.
Once the hard stuff was done, it was off to the beach,
This is the kind of weather we pay extra for, just a little chilly, but you can not complain if you are wearing shorts still.
First order of business was getting the new old Fuji to its new owner for some weekend fun prior to deciding on the final build out. I am pretty sure her stoke is apparent,
after some fast wide loops to get a feel for the handing, she was showing off, hopefully there will be miles of smiles.
Then the munchikin and I made our way around the point to check the surf, just for fun,
Of course, since it is thursday and I am on daddy duty the surf is overhead and pumping, so it goes.
Back to work, exciting things are happening, more on that in a bit.
Finally made it to the end of the week, one of those weeks where days feel like weeks and the week felt like a month. This morning it was trying to rain with a false start, not fog and not quite thunder storms. Just gloomy out. Then it gave way to an incredible day. I loaded up the team on the family truckster and headed down to the beach to get some sun, air and check the surf.
Happy Friday, enjoy the weekend and play outside!
