One of the challenges of being the photographer and the model is getting the camera far enough away to capture the angle of view you a shooting for while still being able to control the camera. Often times is will use a combination of tripod, remotes and timers. Other times, as readers likely know, I use the low tech solution of keeping my arm stretched out as far as I can without dropping the camera. This past week I put a little time into fleshing out a pole mount for the camera.

Version 1.0 has been going pretty well. Materials list includes; 1/4 - 20 all thread, a piece of scrap dowel and a couple of cinch nuts to keep the mount secure at the camera end. It is a little whippy, but more than stout enough for the GoPro. The bend in the first picture is cold set using an old 26" wheel as a mandrel. The length works well for the Xtracycle. I am not sure how to carry it on my other bikes, and now I have a shorter version on the project list as well as a stouter model for the GF1

Take a minute slow down and take back control of your time.

Grabbing a minute at the bottom of a tree that is 100 years older than me, jogging the mental files back into perspective.
Happy Earth day! use it as and excuse to get outside and play with your family.
Today I had the bright idea of riding over to the Santa Clara river to eat my lunch, then over to one of the farm stands to get some veggies for dinner.

The tail wind getting there made things, a breeze, literally. Getting home was another matter.

Find some eggs and smell some flowers!

Play outside!
This afternoon I had some time to take the Roadeo fork over to the big brown trucks and ship it back to its creator for repair.

Then I rambled all through town, followed the signs for the "Bike Route" for the first time, Up through the hill-side neighborhoods finding many dead ends, and then up through the park to home.

Perfect way to cap off the week. Now to get dinner ready.
Enjoy your weekend, Play outside!!
I was on my way to get the vegetables when I decided to pull into McGrath State Park and explore some of the trails along the south side of the Santa Clara

The winter rains have kept things flowing, the estuary is drained out a bit and everything nearby is green and blooming.

Explored some of the trails through the canopy

Then back to the mission at hand, well stocked for the week and heading home.
Found a little time to sneak out and explore some back roads while visiting friends and family in the Santa Clarita Valley.

Cloudy skies in the morning gave way to perfect riding weather after lunch. TIme to enjoy the green of Spring while it lasts.
